The Ninth Annual Summer Roses Concert

Enter the world of the Vocalise, beautiful creations of lingering melodies and colorful harmonies, performed by dazzling violinist Junko Ohtsu and superior collaborative pianist Colette Valentine. These acclaimed artists will invite you to the wondrous and personal world of the finest tone poets. Repertoire includes Vocalises by Ravel and Messiaen, an expressive Nocturne by Chopin, Dans le Lointain by Ysaÿe, and a flamboyant violin sonata by Richard Strauss whose second movement filled with lush harmonies and exquisite singing melodies, seems to reveal Strauss’ innermost feelings.

BLACK BOX PERFORMANCE PROJECT – SUMMER INTENSIVE

Disney’s The Lion King Jr.

AUDITIONS June 29 from 9:00AM-12:00PM at the Southampton Cultural Center
Director Tamara Salkin and Musical Director Amanda Jones act as guides and mentors to help actors and singers learn theatre and vocal skills for on and off the stage. Using Black Box Theatre style and techniques, participants will perform a full length musical in an educationally based setting. Taking the focus off the set, costumes, lights and spectacle we will bring the focus back to the actors and the work they are doing. Actors will do thorough script, song, and character analysis. Actors will make stagecraft decisions regarding the minimal costumes, sets, props, sound design, and lighting design. Actors will learn production duties such as constructing the playbill and more.
AUDITIONS June 29 from 9:00AM-12:00PM at the Southampton Cultural Center
PERFORMANCES July 19 @7:00PM, July 20 @3:00PM and 7:00PM
Rehearsal Schedule:
July 1-3, 9:00AM-12:30PM
July 8-12, 9:00AM-12:30PM
July 15-18, 9:00-12:30PM
Snacks including granolas bars, fresh fruits, pretzels, cheese sticks etc. and bottled water will be provided at all rehearsals
Performance Call Schedule:
July 19, 3:00PM (Dinner will be Provided to Students)
July 20, 12:00PM (Dinner will be Provided to Students)
All Rehearsals and Performances at the Southampton Cultural Center in the Levitas Theatre
Ages: 3rd grade through 9th grade
