Celebrate Duke Ellington’s 125th Birthday with a Special Interactive Performance!
Unleash your inner musician and join vocalist Olivia Foschi and bassist Iris Ornig for an
unforgettable experience celebrating the legendary Duke Ellington’s 125th birthday.
Dive into the world of Ellington as they explore his captivating compositions and rich
history with their quartet.

The workshop kicks off with an interactive exploration of Ellington’s iconic “C Jam
Blues.” Learn the blues feeling and move to the rhythm with the band.

“It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing!” This phrase perfectly captures the
essence of scat singing. Olivia will guide you through the secrets of expressive vocal
improvisation techniques and she will put your newfound skills to the test with a call
and response experience inspired by “In a Mellow Tone.”

For the first half, the audience actively participates in interactive activities. Then, sit
back and relax as you enjoy the iconic music of Duke Ellington, including “Caravan,”
“Take the A Train,” “Satin Doll,” and many more, performed live by the quartet.
Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn, create, and celebrate the music of a
legend! No experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and be ready to
have some fun!
