SUMMARY:“The Way I See It…”: An Exhibition by Alan M. Richards
DESCRIPTION:“The Way I See It…”\nAn Exhibition by Alan M. Richards\nOrdinary scenes become imagined realities shaped by observation\, memory\, and emotion \nThe Way I See It presents nearly 50 photomontages that begin with photographs encountered in daily life. Each source image creates a lasting emotional response—sometimes because of a face\, a gesture\, a relationship\, a place\, or the quality of light. Through photomontage\, those initial impressions are reconstructed into new visual narratives. \nThe works move through diners\, hotel rooms\, city windows\, neighborhood streets\, parks\, and private interiors. Although the settings are familiar\, the scenes do not document events exactly as they occurred. They are imagined realities in which memory and observation combine\, leaving room for the viewer to wonder what happened before the pictured moment and what may happen next. \nTogether\, the works invite a slower form of looking. They suggest that the ordinary is never truly ordinary when we approach it with curiosity\, empathy\, and imagination. \nPictured: Edith’s Eatery

SUMMARY:East End Jazz Session
DESCRIPTION:Monthly Jam Sessions Return! \nWe are thrilled to continue our collaboration with the Southampton Cultural Center for the East Meets West Jazz Jam Session! \nEvery first Sunday of the month\, starting October 4th | 2:00–4:30 pm \n\n\n\n\nCommunity members of every background – whether you only sing in the shower\, in a choir or have never touched an instrument in your life – are invited to the Southampton Cultural Center to become part of the experience. \nUnlike traditional jazz jams that cater solely to instrumentalists\, this session is intentionally crafted for listeners\, music lovers\, and complete novices—you name it\, we play it! Printed lyric sheets will be provided at the door\, making it effortless to join in on classic American songbook standards including “Fly Me to the Moon\,” “Summertime\,” “What a Difference a Day Made\,” “The Girl from Ipanema\,” and Nat King Cole’s “L-O-V-E.” \nThe afternoon kicks off with a featured set by beloved local vocalist Vanessa Trouble\, backed by an all-star rhythm section featuring Bill Smith on piano\, Iris Ornig on bass and Troy Grindle on drums. Following the opening sing-along set\, the stage opens up for a multi-generational\, judgment-free jam session. \nMusicians and vocalists wishing to sit in are encouraged to sign up in advance by emailing eastendjazzny@gmail.com with the title of the song you would like to perform\, including sheet music. \n\n\n\n\nMark your calendars and bring your instruments or your love for great music and our community!
